My Name is Tonya, 1/2 of The Apex Takeover. A bit about how Martha and I met. It was a bout a year ago, like others I found myself in the house due to effects of the pandemic. One of my friends posted on their Facebook page about an app called "Clubhouse (a social network based on voice—where people around the world come together to talk, listen and learn from each other in real-time) " out of curiosity I asked for an invite to see what the hype was all about.
I Instantly became immersed in a world of creative thinkers and networking. Based on my passion for Formula 1 I immediately started looking for enthusiast that boasted my same interest. One evening I went into a "Room" and heard a young lady recounting her experiences of attending various Formula 1 races throughout the world. I was intrigue about the life stories she shared of what life was like growing up in Zimbabwe. I was also shocked and amazed to discover how similar our childhoods were even though we grew up over 9 thousand miles apart. After many conversations and zoom meet-ups Martha and I discovered our shared passion for Formula 1, the struggle to belong , and a love to venture down paths less traveled by people that look like us.
Within a few weeks we found ourselves cultivating a community surrounding Formula 1 that fostered the amplification of women’s voices, while providing a safe space for inclusivity. Our Watch Parties have sparked the beginning of lifelong friendships, countless debates, and has been the conduit for everyday people to meet Giants in both Formula 1 and Motorsport (Check out the link in our IG Bio for the full list of Interviews, you will be pleasantly surprised).
What Martha and I have achieved over these last few months has been nothing short of amazing! What makes The Apex Takeover different from the rest is that we pride ourselves on creating a diverse Community thats inclusive to many. We hope you are willing to take this journey with us.
